[The MINISTER OF WOMEN, CHILDREN AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: Hon Speaker, I also want to respond to Mrs Van der Merwe. We would like to know; where the women are, who were empowered by the IFP, because we don't see them here? We, as the ANC, know that we have supported women when they formed organisations known as co-operatives. We have women like Mrs Zondi in KwaZulu-Natal, who now train other women as a result of the support they are getting from Minister Nkwinti. They are now exporting their goods to the whole world. [Applause.]
We have women from Ga-Mphahlele in Limpopo, who were given farms by this government. They are producing Moringa plants and tea leaves and are also making tablets. They are supported by Minister Hanekom who is going to build some factories for them for the production of tea leaves in the rural area of Ga-Mphahlele. [Applause.] We have Mrs Saka from Pondoland, who has trained 100 women in sewing. They will be training women in beadwork across the country, thus creating jobs. Those are the women we know of who have been empowered by the ANC. We want to point out that it is true that some lies were spread during the day of the Budget Vote. The DA said that I had employed my friends in the department. I don't have a friend in the department. These children are too young to be my friends.
Secondly, it was said that I withdrew R2 million, and bought furniture for my house. That's not true. The print media also knows that they are lying, but if we do not do some research and are fed by the print media, of course ...]
